By the editorial team·Updated November 4, 2026·5 min read
In short
Promptchan is an adult AI image and video generator with companion chat, run by VisionAI Labs Limited in Dublin, Ireland. It gives you more control than any other tool here: a pose library, styles, negative prompts, cloning from a public gallery, and image-to-video with Extend. Plans cost $14.99, $23.99 or $33.99 every 28 days; full video is on Pro.
Editor score: 7.8/10, from five public criteria (details).

Our verdict on Promptchan
Promptchan is an adult AI image and video generator with companion chat, run by VisionAI Labs Limited in Dublin, Ireland.
Promptchan is for people who enjoy the making part. Where OurDream AI builds a character and keeps her consistent, Promptchan hands you the controls: write a prompt, add a pose, exclude what you do not want, remix a public creation, then animate the result and extend it. If you like iterating, nothing else here gives you as many levers for the money.
Two things keep it from the top spot for most people. First, it does not publish what an image or a video costs in Gems, so you cannot plan a month on paper; Pro’s “unlimited casual generations” is also undefined. Second, it bills every 28 days, which means 13 charges a year. Add 2026 reviews about bugs and slow support, and the advice is clear: use the free Gems, then pay one cycle of Plus or Premium before considering Pro.
The video to watch on Promptchan
“Promptchan Pro Review: Worth Paying For?”, AI Girlfriend Decoded, published September 3, 2026, 9 min 06 s. Independent creator, in English. Plays from youtube-nocookie, only when you click.
A plan-by-plan breakdown aimed at one question: is Pro worth $10 more than Premium? The creator reads Promptchan’s own pages closely, flags what they do not say (Gem costs for media, the meaning of “unlimited casual generations”, live-call eligibility) and concludes that Pro only makes sense for media-heavy users. What users say
Trustpilot showed 4.4 out of 5 from 208 reviews on 10/05/2026, the best score of any tool we cover. Read it with care: the profile is unclaimed, many five-star reviews are a few words long, and several reviewers say the platform rewards reviews as a “task”.
What comes up as positive
- Easy to use, quick results
- Image and video quality praised in detailed reviews
What comes up as negative
- Bugs and crashes reported in 2026
- Limited support
- Long prompts misread; most features lost when a subscription ends
What Promptchan is
Promptchan is an AI creation platform for adults: describe a scene and it renders an image or a clip in a realistic, anime or fantasy style. Around that sits companion chat with roleplay, voice messages and calls, and a public gallery where anyone can clone a creation’s settings. It is published by VisionAI Labs Limited, registered in Dublin, under Irish law, for users 18 and over. It runs on the web and has iOS and Android apps. It is a partner of this site.
Prompt control and image quality
This is where Promptchan leads. Its generator combines a text prompt with a pose library, style presets, composition controls and a negative prompt; you can clone any public creation and change one variable, or use Tweak to change an outfit or a setting while keeping the character. Pro adds custom characters, all styles and poses, 4K output and upscaling.
The flip side of control is effort. Results depend heavily on the prompt, and some 2026 reviews say long prompts get misread. Keep prompts structured (style, character, pose, setting, light) and short; our prompt library shows the shape.
Video and image to video
Promptchan can animate one of your images or start from text, give it a line of dialogue and some sound, and stretch the clip with Extend. Full-length video with Extend is on Pro only. That makes it our top pick for image to video, with one caveat: it does not publish the Gem cost of a clip, so watch your balance on your first cycle and do the maths yourself.
Gems and the 28-day cycle
Every plan is charged every 28 days, not monthly. Over a year, Plus costs 13 × $14.99 = $194.87, Premium $311.87 and Pro $441.87. Gems are the meter for chat models, voice, images and video; paid plans buy extra Gems at half price. Free starter Gems, free chat messages every few hours and one-time bonus tasks cover a test drive.
Privacy setting worth knowing: private generation, which keeps creations out of the public gallery, is available on Plus, Premium and Pro and must be turned on. Public creations are covered by broader licenses in the terms.
Refunds, support and safety
Promptchan will look at a refund request made within 30 days of paying, provided you have used little of the service; each case is judged individually, and crypto payments are non-refundable. Cancelling from account settings keeps access to the end of the paid period. Support is by email ([email protected]). Its terms are governed by Irish law, and the operator is identified, which is more than several tools here can say.
Who Promptchan is for
A good fit if you like writing prompts and iterating, want image-to-video, and value public prices and an EU operator. Skip it if you want a consistent companion with long memory (switching chat and story modes even clears history), predictable media costs, or video without paying for the top plan. For consistency and published prices, OurDream AI is the safer bet.
